Cant see why anyone would grumble....its a good idea.

www.1837online.co.uk This is an online index of birth, deaths and marriages. Its fab.

www.gro.gov.uk You then can order the certificate online.

www.freebmd.org.uk This is a fairly new site and does not have upto date info, but it is really good for family history.

www.helpmefind.org.uk A bit hit and miss really, but it is there!!

www.bt.com Look up numbers on this one

Hope these are useful :)

I can't see a problem either, except that any site we recomend won't be endorsed by AfterAdoption.

Genes re-united is a family tree site. Including living people where permission from that person has been obtained.

www.genesreunited.co.uk

It is free to search but you have to subscibe to contact someone, I am a member and happy to send an initial e-mail to someone you think could be a relative/match

A wonderfull organisation offer help to adoptive families. They are called adoptionUK they have a helpline 0870 7700 450.

They helpled our family all the way through the adoption process, and offered sound advice.

This is a good site

www.adoptionsearchreunion.org.uk

And for the non spellers among us (myself included) Free download for a spell check that can be used on forums www.iespell.com It's brilliant on most sites I belong to, but I can't get it to work on my msn ones.

Cheers Gerry
