Sincere apologies for not getting back to you gossip-mongers sooner. I doubt, lady archer, that you are acquainted with Eastenders, but the character 'Dot Cotton' comes to mind, at least in this instance!

I just don't get this strange fascination with how old I am? It seems to surface every couple of months! I would have thought my posts on my son would have narrowed it down a bit, but maybe mathematics isn't everybody's strong point!

Put it this way, I was young when he was born. Very young. School age. I have only just been in able to contact him..... Does this help?

A Welsh Dot Cotton too! Interesting thought! Or maybe Deidre's mother in Coronation Street? What's her name....Blanche!?

I shall remind you of that comment when the rugby starts up again and you start making comments such as 'yay, we won the grand slam!'

Of course. But I took no notice whatsoever, and continue with relish. It is one of my few remaining pleasures in life!

I hope the Dot Cotton was not aimed at me John.  ........I don't smoke, nor perm my hair, nor actually live in the past, although it may sound like it sometimes.....

.........the past helps us to handle the future though......

...and I still think you are only a bit older than my nearly 30 year old daughter...........  ---

Perhaps not, but the analogy seemed apt all the same....

As well as the dubious attributes that you describe, Dot Cotton, like Blanche from Coronation Street, has a tendency to gossip... I am sure (if she wasn't such a religious person) she wouldn't mind a wager on John's age!

Thanks for that M'Nenka (ooh he's a font of information!) :D

What I was after was a counsellor who was familiar with adoptee issues but just in a general sense if you see what I mean, not to specifically counsel me through search and reunion - would this also fall under the regulations regulations regulations!?
