Should I allow myself to get my hopes up?

Postby MattC » Tue Aug 18, 2009 3:15 pm

Just wanted to ask if I should allow myself to get my hopes up?

The reason I am asking this is to do with what a social worker has said.
Just to fill you in a bit I am at the first stage of getting information off of my Sister's adoption file, but as of yet not seen it.

Well during a telephone conversation the social worker drop in -

"well I can tell you that we will find her and it isn't going to take to long"

What would you make from that?

I have been walk round and round my house with a big cheesey grin on my face since.
Surely she must know something or has already seen the file and something is on there, like maybe my Sister has try to trace us in the pass or something?!

My head is just swimming at the moment, 17 years of searching and to be told that I just can't help getting my hopes up :D

That sounds really promising. Either she has contacted them and there is something on file about her whereabouts. Or, they have maybe already done a general search for her and come up with strong possibilities.

Hopefully your long search will soon come to an end!!!

They have found her :D

my mind is just totally shell shocked but in a good way. I don't know what else to write at the moment. I found out just over 2 hours ago.

They said they couldn't tell me much until they have had chance to talk to her. But they told me that she is married and what area she lives in.
They are sending letters off to her tomorrow.

I can't get over it, 17 years of looking hopefully almost at an end :)
You are someone else, I am still right here.
